"Haneen" Egyptians Abroad Services (EAS) Website

Haneen has been online since October 1997 with an average hit rate of 600 per day. In 1999, the website received a finalist award in the “International Stockholm Challenge”, Nobel Hall, Stockholm, Sweden.

Haneen is mainly targeted towards Egyptian expatriates and emigrants to facilitate their access to up-to-date information and data on various fields of interest in Egypt. Ordinary Mail, media tools and telephony can no longer be the sole interface and the means of communication between Egypt and its citizens abroad, thus the need for such a channel of communication became crucial. The "Haneen" EAS website serves the purpose of bringing Egyptians in contact with their country while they are away.

It hosts a forum for discussing International, Arab and Egyptian issues and offers other free dynamic services that are mostly needed by Egyptian expatriates and emigrants.

The Giza Investment Atlas (GIA)  

The Giza Investment Atlas was compiled and launched to serve as a comprehensive informative reference for those interested in investment opportunities in the governorate of Giza. It provides a Geographic Information System and a Decision Support Tool that was developed using Arc/Info on a Unix platform. The system is built upon a detailed map of Giza and a huge database, comprising more than 40 tables which include the data related to investment in the governorate. A directory of all industries in Giza is listed in the system, down to the detail of the individual plant; thus allowing them to be queried and viewed on the map.

The system also produces thematic maps, which reveal correlations between population and various economic facilities or economic indicators, including populations served by different facilities. Outputs include maps showing distribution of and indicators for:

• Tourism

• Industry

• Agriculture

• Education

• Health

The system also offers consultations on investment opportunities and locations, with respect to a specified budget.
